Caterine Ibargüen: The long jump athlete
Caterine Ibargüen
She was
born in Apartadó (Antioquia) in 1984, she is 35 years old. She is an athlete
who competes in high jump, long jump and triple jump.
She
lived with her grandmother when she was a child because of the armed conflict
in Colombia.
Caterine
first played volleyball and her coach noticed her skill and suggested practice high
jump in Medellín.
She got
the world titles of 2011 and 2013 and 2015, and silver medal in London 2017. She
won the IAAF Female athlete of the year award in 2018. Her personal best in the
high jump is 1.93 metres, achieved on 22 July 2005 in Cali; this is the current
Colombian record.
I
admire her because she is honest, loyal and generous. She overcame poverty with
discipline and dedication.
