Present Perfect Tense

The present perfect tense
The present perfect tense is used to describe something that happened in the past, but the exact time it happened is not important. It has a relationship with the present.

It is formed using has/have + past participle.

Example:
  • I have read the information on the webpage (Yo he leído la información en la pagina web)
  • You have lost weight (Tu has perdido peso)
  • He has eaten too much (El ha comido demasiado)
  • She has vomited after eating (Ella ha vomitado después de comer)
  • It has been an interesting article (Ha sido un artículo interesante)
  • We have visited a health specialist (Nosotros hemos visitado a un especialista en salud)
  • They have talked to a psychologist (Ellos han hablado con un psicólogo)

Negatives are made with haven’t (have not) or hasn’t (has not). Example:
  • I haven’t read the information on the webpage
  • I have not read the information on the webpage
  • He hasn’t eaten too much
  • He has not eaten too much

Questions are indicated by inverting the subject and has/have. Example:
  • Have they talked to a psychologist? Yes, they have / No, they haven’t
  • Have we visited a health specialist? Yes, we have / No, we haven´t
